Discover the quiet solitude of pilgrimage on the Isle of Iona. Each day invites you to wander to new corners of the island, pause for spiritual accompaniment, and have moments of spacious solitude. With shared meals, warm conversation, and time to simply be, this retreat will offer a nourishing way to reconnect.
Join us for a walking pilgrimage on the island of Iona — a time to walk in silence, reflect in companionship, and listen for the movement of God in your life.
We will walk to different parts of the island, letting its beauty and solitude speak to us. In the afternoons there will be time for individual sessions of spiritual accompaniment, a chance to listen together for how God is moving in your own life.

Sarah trained as a spiritual director in the Ignatian tradition with the Epiphany Group in Scotland. She has lived on Iona for eight years and has a deep connection to the island. Before coming to Iona, she worked for many years in the field of adoption in North East Scotland. She is an enthusiastic walker and explorer of Hebridean islands, a writer and an oblate of Pluscarden Abbey in Moray.

Wendy trained as a spiritual director with Sarum College, Salisbury and is a qualified mountain leader. She often guides pilgrims across the Isle of Mull, where she lives, on their way to or from Iona. She also works for the Iona Community, the Guild of Health and St. Raphael and is a crofter. Her first visit to Iona in 2008 was transformational. She has lived on the Ross of Mull for eight years.

Friday 20th – Wednesday 25th March 2026
The retreat begins with a shared meal on the evening of Friday 20th March and concludes on Wednesday morning. You may choose to make this part of a longer stay on Iona.
This retreat is on the Isle of Iona, in the Inner Hebrides, Scotland.
Accommodation is not included in the retreat fee.
We have reserved a number of spaces for retreat participants in the Catholic House of Prayer and another local option.
You are also welcome to arrange your own place to stay on Iona. We've intentionally left accommodation choices open so that you can select what best suits your budget and preferences.
Because accommodation on Iona can fill quickly, we recommend booking as soon as your place is confirmed.
We will share two evening meals together during the retreat — one on the first evening, to connect together on arrival, and another on the final evening, as we gather to reflect and give thanks.
All other meals are by participants' own arrangement. Iona has several cafés, small shops, and some self-catering options.
This retreat includes gentle walking most days — generally 3 to 6 miles, sometimes on uneven or rocky terrain. Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable walking outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Iona is reached by ferry from Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull. Mull is accessible by ferry from Oban on the Scottish mainland. We'll send detailed travel information and suggestions once your booking is confirmed.
